AbstractThe objective of this work is to evaluate the variation of vegetation types forest, mangrove and restinga, found in the Atlantic Forest domain, using MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectral Radiometer) images and the climate parameters to detect variation of this phenology. The methodology focusses on the application of a linear spectral mixing model on the reflectance images to compare the average values of these vegetation types between fraction images and the reflectance surface. We used MODIS sensor reflectance images for the entire year of 2006, and we also applied the Linear Mixture Model for the generation of fraction images of soil, shadow and vegetation. The data of rainfall are related to meteorology radar TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission). This process was performed using the software ENVI 4.4 which permitted to analyse the average behavior of spectral variation of the reflectance images and the fraction images. The results showed which of the vegetation fraction could be detected with higher accuracy. The increase of the vegetation proportion for the forest and mangrove possibly identify better the structural changes of vegetation in the periods of seasonal climate conditions. We conclude that the vegetation types found in the Atlantic Forest domain shows correspondence to the hydrology variation in this region.
